Public Information - Sex Offender Registry

West Valley City Police Department Investigations Division

In 2009, The Utah Department of Corrections was awarded a Department of Justice grant to enforce sex offender compliance under Utah registration requirements of the Sex and Kidnap Offender Registry law. In conjunction with this grant, West Valley City Police Department has formed a Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (S.A.F.E.) team in order to perform individual and address verifications and locate non-compliant offenders.

Through the direction of the Chief, Police investigators have been certified by the state to participate in this program. Each month, the Investigations Division receives a list of non-supervised offenders from the Department of Corrections. Investigators work overtime hours to perform residency checks of sex and kidnap offenders within West Valley City. These overtime hours are then reimbursed from grant monies.

Offenders who are found in violation of their registration requirements and determined to be non-compliant are either booked into jail, or have warrants issued for their arrest.
