Google has announced plans to build a new fiber-to-the-home network and is looking to communities and residents to help define the project. The Google project will build a 1Gbps fiber network to cover a footprint of between 50,000 and 500,000. Google is requiring that the project be an open wholesale network with heavy municipal involvement.
